Demo-BLog's DBL poster reveal at eceee 2026

Demo-BLog partners from BPIE (Buildings Performance Institute of Europe), Sriraj Gokarakonda and Zsolt Toth, have presented a new poster at this years eceee Summer Study in France, exploring how Digital Building Logbooks (DBLs) can support a more affordable, circular, and sustainable built environment.

The poster highlights the growing importance of DBLs as central repositories for building data, helping improve transparency, support informed decision making, and reduce transaction costs throughout a building’s lifecycle. It also explores how stronger interoperability and policy coherence can help unlock the full potential of DBLs across Europe.

Among the key findings presented:

DBLs can support policy implementation, innovation, and more efficient resource use across the buildings sector;

a shared European vision and common governance framework are essential to ensure interoperability and scalability;

the social cost benefit analysis demonstrates that the benefits of large scale DBL implementation outweigh the costs across all assessed scenarios;

a simplified and user friendly framework is needed to support practical uptake while ensuring technical robustness and regulatory alignment.

The poster also examines how DBLs can contribute to renovation planning, circularity, BIM integration, and improved data management in line with the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD).
